What a challenge 2020 proved to be for us and for countless of others. Our usual SOP of personally appearing at fundraisers, seeking out people in need via personal contacts and community awareness, was turned upside down. As 2020 drew to a close, we made the decision to seek out critical needs by turning to city hall for help identifying those who had fallen behind on utility bills due to all that COVID brought. We were humbled to be able to completely "zero out" a 7 month city utility bill for a person who had dealt with illness and job reduction. Now she, and we, are "clean slate" as we charge into 2021.
We have also added a constant presence in our 3 county area community food bank. Besides onsite volunteer efforts, the Foundation is contributing to fuel for the purpose of local food rescue to benefit the food bank as many food rescue services were put on hold.
Since 2011 we have responded to verifiable community needs as well as requests from various agencies targeting people in need. We also respond to information obtained by our own "eyes wide open" targeting of our local citizens in need.
The roadblocks created by this most difficult year will not deter us in our mission: To provide small, instant grants to local people who have suffered a life altering, catastrophic event.
